Technical solutions, initiatives and policies aside, the progress in addressing energy efficiency and productivity potentials is still too slow. To facilitate real implementation and matching needs with capabilities and uniting the voices in industrial energy efficiency the UNECE Task Force on Industrial Energy Efficiency was launched this week in the context of the 9th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development in Kiev/Ukraine, bringing together delegates from all world regions, governments, NGOs, financial and corporate sectors.
Hannes Mac Nulty (MacNulty Consulting) and EEP head of International Affairs and Strategy, Stefan M. Buettner, have been elected inaugural joint-Chairs of the Task Force, which is intended to work hand-in-hand with UNIDOs new work bringing corporate leaders together in the UNIDO industry working group that is meant to be launched in the near future.
More information will become available in the context of the 24th Conference of Parties (COP24) in Katowice/Poland in December that both chairs will be present at to work on a low carbon industrial future.
